Indoor Plants add Natural color

A living room with potted plant and Nantucket™ window shadings. Shadings available at Interior Motives and More ... in Huntley, ILIndoor plants add natural color to a room.

Living plants add freshness and natural color to a room, and there are many options that require very little care. If you don’t have a green thumb, you can select from a wide variety of artificial plants that are hard to distinguish from real ones.

Indoor plants range from large, lush trees to the smallest of African violets, and everything in between. Some of the most popular indoor plants include tropical orchids, cactuses, succulents, banana trees, dracaena plants, Philodendrons, ivy, and many varieties of ferns, ficus trees, and palms.

A living room decorated with an orchid and Luminette® Privacy Sheers. Sheers available at Interior Motives and More ... in Huntley, ILPlace indoor plants on the floor, on a table, on a bench, on shelves -- or you can even hang them on the wall!

Have fun with the containers you use, too! Just like plants themselves, containers come in many shapes, sizes, colors and glazes to complement any décor. And you can buy plant stands in a variety of styles that display plants at almost any height in your rooms.

If you opt for live plants, talk to your nursery about the light needs of various plants, and find out how quickly each plant will grow. Learn which plants are easy to grow, and how much water and maintenance each plant needs.

Keep in mind that plants don’t just come in shades of green. You can select plants with striking hues of red, orange, pink and yellow! Plus some indoor plants feature brilliant flowers in a variety of hues.

Make your home feel natural and green by adding indoor plants to your decorating plan.

Colored Glass

Colored glass attracts more attention than clear glass
and can change the mood in a room.

It's a beautiful design element.

Stained glass windows are an obvious choice. They’ve been popular for many centuries, bringing brightly colored light into ancient castles, homes and religious buildings. Stained glass can add vintage style to your home or create a touch that’s modern to the max. And stained glass can be custom designed for the exact size and shape of your windows to provide a truly unique design element.

If you’re not up for stained glass, consider using window glass with a soft violet, golden or green hue to soften the quality of light coming in, especially in rooms that get a lot of sun or in powder rooms, entries and hallways.

Think outside the window! Colored glass can be so used for so much more than just windows, including:
- Coffee tables and dining tables
- Chandeliers
- Lamps
- A display of glass vases, bowls, bottles or figurines
- Colored glass crystals on the floor of your fireplace
- Tile and floor accents
- Even wind chimes, garden sculpture and tile insets in the garden

Colored glass is the clear choice for a design update this year. It adds touches of light and sparkle to your interior décor!
