Decorate Your Entry Hall
It can introduce the beauty of your home to your guests.Consider these ideas for updating your entry:- Use bold and rich colors or striking black and white. - Add mirrors to make the room appear larger. - Explore the idea of shiny, lacquer or faux finish walls. - Accent with metallic finishes, including gold, silver, bronze or copper. - Install a front door that looks distinctive even from the inside. - Purchase a dramatic light fixture or lamp. It’s nice to include a table and at least one chair or bench where people can stop to put on their shoes, but too much furniture will collect junk on a daily basis. A coat rack or umbrella rack can add welcome functionality. Also take time to select artwork, rugs and light fixtures. When selecting colors for your foyer, think about coordination with the rooms you can see from your entry hall, probably your living room and maybe your dining room. If you’re thinking about a remodeling project, you can redesign your front door for more drama, even adding side and top windows to bring in more light. If you don’t have a separate foyer, be clever in your decorating to make this area appear as a separate space, using your flooring, furniture and artwork selection. Want to make a good first impression? Focus on redesigning your entry hall this season! A small table dresses up the entry, without adding clutter. Side and top windows around your front door create a dramatic entry.

Mid-century Chairs
This streamlined style is from the 1950s and 1960s
Yet mid-century modern is new again!Mid-century chairs are characterized mostly by straight lines without ornamentation, and are often accented with a few graceful curves. Mid-century chairs combine expert craftsmanship with industrial design and manufacturing. They’re constructed from metal, wood, fiberglass, plastic and sometimes leather and fabric. They come in almost any color, but tend to be in black, white and tan. You can also go wild with 1960s colors such as harvest gold and avocado.Purchase true vintage mid-century chairs at auction, local antique stores or online. You can also buy re-creations of classic mid-century pieces from many brick-and-mortar stores and showrooms. You don’t have to change your decorating style to add a couple of mid-century chairs. Celebrate “less is more” with the beautiful lines and curves of a mid-century chair or two. Mid-century chairs can even add brilliant color to your decor! |
This low-slung, sleek chair adds pizazz to a room.

Decorating in Shades of Gray
Gray is a versatile and sensuous color to include in your home decor.
In addition to so many variations in gray colors, gray can come in varying intensities too, from the lightest dove gray to dark steel gray. And don’t just think of gray as a solid, smooth color when you use it in design. Part of the beauty of gray is in its texture; think wood grain in flooring and furniture, texture in tweed or silk fabrics, and matte or lacquer finish in paint.Gray is subtle and goes well with a lot of colors, letting the other hues get all the attention. Think French blue, pink, gold, black, brown and white for accent colors. For the most part, gray is a peaceful color that adds serenity to an interior environment. However, gray can be edgy and avant garde, like when it’s used for concrete flooring or countertops. Many elements in your home lend themselves to gray as a neutral. These include: - Wall paint - Tile and stone - Upholstery fabric - Window coverings - Rugs and carpeting As an accent color, use gray for throw pillows, table linens, lamps, artwork, bed coverings and more. Thinking of adding gray in your home? Contact us for a design consultation.
